How do I check out an eBook
on an Amazon Kindle?

  1. Visit our Digital Catalog at: CarrollLibrary.org/DigitalCatalog and click the   Login Button button. (Enter your library card number & pin)
    • NOTE: If using any Kindle, other than the Kindle Fire, you must perform this step from a computer, or other device, with Internet access.

  2. Search for Kindle titles only.
    • Click the Search tab at the top of the page.
    • Under Format, change the selection to ‘Kindle Book’
    • If you only want to see eBooks that are available for immediate checkout (no waiting lists), check the box that reads: Only show titles with copies available.
    • Click the Search button.

  3. Depending on the title’s availability choose either Add to Digital Cart   or   Join Waiting List
    • Join Waiting List - Due to a limited amount of licenses, only a certain amount of books may be checked out at once. You may join a waiting list by entering your email address.
    • Add to Digital Cart - The title is available for immediate checkout. Titles check out for 21 days (or less if desired).

  4. Select: Proceed to Checkout

  5. Select the button: Confirm Check Out

  6. Select the button: Get for Kindle
    • You will then be directed to Amazon.com

  7. Select the button: Get library book

  8. Login to your Amazon.com account -- or create a new account -- if you're not already logged in.

  9. Choose to read the book on your Kindle device, free reading app, or Kindle Cloud Reader and select the Continue button.

  10. Your eBook will be delivered immediately!

    Note: Public library books require an active Wi-Fi connection for wireless delivery to a Kindle device. Library books will not be delivered via your Kindle's 3G connection. If trying to send to a Kindle device and you do not have an active Wi-Fi connection, you may instead choose to load your library book via USB.
